NVC History
We are grateful to the saints who have gone before us through the 50-year history of Myersville Baptist Church (MBC). In November 2019, Dan Housam became the pastor of MBC. Dan came with the support of his previous church, Summit Trace (STC), the Blue Ridge Baptist Association (BRBA), the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D), and the North American Mission Board (NAMB). One of the first acts was to replant MBC to become what it is today, North Valley Church (NVC). NVC exists because of the love and support we have received from our partners and the leadership of Jesus Christ
Vision
Our vision for the Kingdom of God. While we serve via NVC, our sights are to further the kingdom of God. Pursuing this vision includes missions, church planting, and church partnerships.
Mission
Empowering people through the Grace and Truth of
Jesus Christ
Grace and Truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17 NIV)
Values
Healing – We should be a place of healing.
Equipping – We should be a place of growing.
Commissioning – We should be a place of serving.
Strategy
Besides pursuing our Mission, Vision, and Values, our Strategy also includes being a healthy church. We do that by monitoring the 8 Qualities of a Healthy Church as defined by Natural Church Development. You can find more information about that here.
What We Believe
We affirm “The Baptist Faith And Message” of the Southern Baptist Convention. A copy of the document can be found on their website at www.sbc.net. Some of those doctrines include:
- The Bible is inspired and without error.
- God is one being revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, bodily rose from the dead, presently advocates for His church, and will return.
- Men and women are created in the image of God but are fallen away from God through their sin.
- All men and women are in need of salvation, which can only happen by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
