Westernport, MD experienced a damaging flood and the SBC Disaster Relief (DR) ministry was on site to help. DR is a network of people and churches who have been trained in doing various DR efforts including chainsaw work, mud outs, and food. Our team spent a week in the effected area and worked under DR leadership and alongside many other churches to meet the needs of the community. At the beginning of the effort, the DR team accumulated around 150 work requests. Over the three+ week effort, nearly all of those requests were fulfilled. While doing the work can be its own reward, the real goal of DR is to show and share God’s love in a very real and practical way.
